What began in 2004 with just two employees in a small private apartment has evolved into a highly specialized development center for high-quality mountaineering and ski boots for the Salewa and Dynafit brands. The mission at the time: to develop a mountain boot that wouldn’t cause blisters – “blisterfree” was the ambitious goal. It solved a problem that had challenged many competitors for years.
Today, 75 experts work in Montebelluna to develop footwear models that meet the needs of a wide range of alpine users – from progressive mountaineers and performance-focused athletes to nature-loving explorers, to name just a few. Montebelluna stands not only for innovation but also for a high degree of vertical integration, carefully selected materials, and rigorous testing procedures to ensure ongoing product refinement and quality assurance.
Since its founding, the site’s importance has continued to grow. In addition to the Footwear Division, the planning and management of the entire Technical Equipment and Hardware division is now also based in Montebelluna. Another major milestone came in 2009 with the relocation of the entire R&D department for apparel, further strengthening the site’s strategic significance.
The anniversary celebration was not only a reflection on two successful decades but also an emotional thank-you to everyone who helped shape the journey – with expertise, dedication, and innovative spirit. Political and business leaders emphasized the regional importance of the site in their speeches.
With pride in its past and determination for the future, the company looks ahead. The next chapters of Montebelluna’s success story are already being written – for the mountains and for the people who move within them.
